Practical Tips for Your Photos at The Myrtles Planation

One of the best things about taking photos at The Myrtles Plantation is that it’s open to the public, so there’s no need for permits or entrance fees for your portrait session., so there’s no need for permits or entrance fees for your portrait session. However, because it is open to visitors and tourists, it’s important to keep in mind that there may be other guests around during your session. The plantation also features a restaurant, Restaurant 1796, which is a perfect spot for a date night after your session! And if you’re in need of a coffee pick-me-up, Cafe Elta is located right on the property.

There’s ample parking available, and though the plantation is fairly easy to navigate, you might want to wear comfortable shoes as there are gravel paths throughout the grounds. If you’re wearing heels, consider bringing a pair of flats to walk between locations or opt for a thicker heel that will be more stable on the gravel.

What to Wear for Your Session at The Myrtles

For your photos at The Myrtles Plantation, I recommend outfits that align with the venue’s classic and Southern charm. Light, airy colors like whites, creams, light blues, and soft pinks will complement the aesthetic of the plantation beautifully. These colors will also pop against the venue’s greenery, creating a soft and romantic look.

I would avoid bold colors like reds and greens, as they may clash with the natural surroundings. Flowy dresses, tailored suits, or simple and elegant pieces will photograph beautifully against the plantation’s historic backdrop. Comfortable shoes are a must if we’re walking around the grounds, so keep that in mind when choosing your outfit. A long, flowy dress paired with comfortable shoes will give you freedom of movement and add a whimsical touch to your portraits.
